About Sarah Bertrand:
Sarah is 16 years old, and is a resident of Wadsworth Illinois.
She is currently a Sophomore at Warren Township High School, and has always had a love for writing.
She's studied both Latin and Greek for 3 years, and is currently in her second year of spanish studies.
Although she has not personally been a victim of an eating disorder, she considers herself personally victimized. While growing up, a family member of Sarah's had been the victim of anorexia nervosa. Seeing this left a remarkable impression on her.
As she grew older, Sarah began to see eating disorders in other settings. Seeing these diseases effect people at her school, on sports teams, and in her close circle of friends made Sarah realize that this was a pandemic that needed to be stopped. As someone who was naturally observant, Sarah could not (and STILL cannot), believe the pressure put on women today to look perfect. Sarah aims to bring equality to the public today.
She then took it upon herself to spend her reign as Miss Teen Illinois International to help victims in anyway possible. She also hopes to help families of eating disorder victims. She wants to boost the self-esteem of girls younger than her; therefore preventing eating disorders down the road.
